Winter Blitz

Our Winter Blitz weekends allow you to take a break from the challenges of the school year to refocus on your relationship with God! Youth leaders can choose between four weekends that are specifically designed for 7th-12th grade students. Individual campers are invited to attend Winter Blitz 3, February 7-9, and will be in a cabin with other teens and one of our volunteer cabin leaders to experience authentic community together. Each week features the same activities but different speakers and worship leaders. In the case of no snow, other activities will be substituted.

Youth Leaders

Winter Blitz retreats give you the opportunity to offer a life-changing experience to your youth without worrying about the details. We coordinate the retreat while you invest in your students, grow together, and grow as a group. Youth leaders are $110 per person. For every ten students you bring, one leader attends for free. Weekend Theme

This year’s theme is Word on the Street. The Word of God is the only place to find firm, authoritative truth that reveals who you are created to be. Your purpose, your value, and the truth about who God is can only be found in Scripture. Instead of listening to the “word on the street”, we want to encourage campers to dive into God’s Word for themselves and share it with others! We hope campers walk away from this weekend with the peace and joy of trusting God as their true authority and identity. The theme verse for the weekend is 2 Peter 3:17b-18a, “Take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

AJ Garcia is young, exegetical, and wildly passionate about knowing Jesus and making him known. His heartbeat is to use Scripture and storytelling to show people the hope, grace, and love of our Savior – Jesus Christ. Mike is married to his incredible wife, Rachael and together they have two kids, Jalen & Willow. They currently live in Kalamazoo, MI, and are a part of H2O Church where they help love and serve the students and community around WMU and Kalamazoo. Mike has a passion for storytelling and for helping people see the beauty and mystery of God in their own everyday life!

Dave Mead started his journey in music as a kid traveling around with his parents who were singer/songwriters. Music has been a way for him to connect with things that tend to lie deep within the soul of humanity and get them out. For the last 10 years, he has been performing as a solo artist and with a band. His passion for people and music has driven him to create high-quality environments that result in opportunities to look at who we are, why we are here, and where we are going.

Allan Dunlap

Allan has a passion for studying the wisdom of scripture and how it helps us grow in our relationship with God and people. He works for Legacy Ministry Services helping to support camps and other ministries. Outside of work, Allan enjoys reading, sports, and spending time in the great outdoors. He lives in Dearborn, MI with his cat, Steve.

Pastor John absolutely loves his wife and the local church. After over 13 years of following a passion to reach people for Jesus, God led John and his wife Ceci back to Metro Detroit with the vision to start New Anthem Church. He loves God and loves people deeply, with a passion to see the lost meet Jesus. John also loves concerts, disc golf, and late night worship sessions.
