Our staff is more than a team, we’re a family united by a shared mission to serve, disciple, and create a Christ-centered camp experience. Each person plays a vital role in making Camp a place of growth, adventure, and transformation. Get to know the team that helps make it all happen!

Drew Gardner

Executive Director

Raised in Defiance, Ohio, Drew has been Bair Lake’s Executive Director since June 2018. Drew has a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Ohio Northern University and a J.D from The Ohio State University College of Law. Since then, he has served in the US Air Force as a JAG Attorney, Senior Pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Paulding, OH, and Athletic Administrator for Lakewood Park Christian School in Auburn, IN. Drew is married to his wife, Kelly and they have 10 kids: Seth, Noah, Isaiah, Elijah, Grace, Zechariah, Mercy, Hope, Peace, and Micaiah. Drew enjoys spending time with family, reading, attending his kid's sporting events, and serving the Church.

Joe Hughes

Director of Ministries

Joe Hughes has been our Director of Ministries since 2014. Before that, Joe served as a high school math teacher, an outdoor education instructor at Michindoh Conference Center, and Director of Outdoor Education and Programming at Heartland Conference Retreat Center in Ohio. Joe also serves as the CCCA Michigan Secretary. Joe enjoys reading, woodworking, time in the outdoors (fishing, hiking, camping, hunting), and spending time with his wife, Katie, and his four children, Andrew, Natalie, Owen, and Jack.

Daniel DeForge

Director of Administration

Daniel was born and raised in Livonia, Michigan. He has been on staff at Bair Lake Bible Camp in different roles since 2013. He now serves as our Director of Administration. Daniel also serves as a firefighter and medical first responder for the Newberg Township Fire Department. He enjoys hunting, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Anna, and kids, Audrey, Calvin, and Miles.

Jeremy Wright

Director of Operations

Jeremy was hired as our Director of Operations in May of 2022. He was raised in Holland before heading up to the UP for college, where he then stayed for 19 years. Jeremy and his wife, long-time Bair Laker, Sarah have 5 kids that are heavily involved in serving at Camp. Jeremy previously worked in Christian camping for 7 years, and he enjoys the great outdoors, backpacking, and spending time with his family and friends. Jeremy and Sarah have 5 kids: Ben, Arn, Silja, Violet, and Ozzie.

Kat Spieldenner

Program Manager

Kat grew up in Howe, IN and came to BLBC as a camper, junior staffer, and summer staffer. She also served as the Assistant Day Camp Director for two summers. Kat graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2019 and worked as a first-grade teacher before coming to BLBC. She enjoys traveling, reading, and dancing.

Randall Moore

Discipleship & Events Coordinator

Randall grew up in Three Rivers, MI. He holds a degree in Psychology and Family Studies from Cornerstone University and is currently working towards his master's in Biblical Counseling from Faith Bible Seminary. Before joining our staff in August 2022, he served on staff at Factoryville Bible Church and Christian School as the Assistant Pastor and School Assistant Administrator. He loves studying Scripture, reading, talking, listening, and playing anything that has a ball!

Bekah Johnson

Guest Experience Manager

Bekah was born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI. She has previously worked at Disney World, SeaWorld, and Pretty Lake Camp in Mattawan, MI. Her career as Bair Lake Bible Camp began as an intern and Day Camp Director for a year and a half before moving into her current role as Guest Experience Manager. She thrives in this role, as she is passionate about making people feel welcome and increasing efficiency! Bekah enjoys anything crafty, working in her garden, and kayaking.

Rae Faur

Adventure Challenge Coordinator

Rae comes to us from Auburn, Indiana. She holds a degree in liberal studies with concentrations in business administration, kinesiology, and youth ministry from Bethel University, Mishawaka, IN. She loves playing volleyball, hiking, and watching movies. Her deepest passions are serving others and sharing God’s love and faithfulness.

Steph grew up in Ozark, Alabama, and earned a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Southwest Baptist University. She has a heart for ministry and has served in camp, church, and administrative roles. Steph loves sharing a cup of coffee with a friend, spending time with her family, camping, and bringing creativity to life through custom banners for celebrations.

Grace grew up in Northwest Ohio. She has been on staff at Bair Lake Bible Camp in different roles since 2019, and she now serves as our Content Creator. She enjoys traveling, reading, drinking coffee, and capturing the beauty of this world through art.

Kelly Gardner

Bair's Cove Manager

Kelly is originally from northwest Ohio and has lived in North Carolina, Florida, and Indiana before coming to BLBC. She studied Elementary Education at The Ohio State University and has served in various ministry roles, including Pastor’s Wife, Children’s Ministry Director, Nursery Coordinator, School Board Member, and Home Educator. Kelly is passionate about serving the Lord and creating welcoming environments where people feel loved. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to audiobooks, and taking walks.

Anna grew up at Bair Lake Bible Camp. After a short time away working at another camp, she returned home to join the full-time staff in 2011. Anna married her best friend, Daniel, in 2015. She loves serving as an EMT at the local EMS department, puzzles, and very good food!

A/V Lead

Zech grew up in northwest Ohio and Fort Wayne, IN, and graduated from Howardsville Christian School. He previously served as an intern and apprentice at Bair Lake Bible Camp before joining the full-time team in 2024. In his free time, Zech enjoys disc golf, music, playing and watching sports, and hanging out with friends.

Jacob Boes

Food Service Manager

Jacob joined the BLBC team as Food Service Manager in 2020. Jacob was on summer staff in 2017 and 2018 (where he met his wife Meaghan), and he also later served as an intern in both our food service and program departments. Jacob and Meaghan have been married since May 2020! A few of Jacob's interests include hunting, golfing, and weightlifting.

Preston Yoder

Preston moved to Bair Lake Bible Camp in 2018 from Goshen, IN. He attended YWAM in Pittsburgh and worked as an automotive technician in southwest Michigan. Preston and his wife Taylor have been married since April, 2016. His interests include working on cars and motorcycles, riding motorcycles, growing hot peppers, and making homemade sauces. His dream is to start a side business to sell his homemade sauces.

Nicanor Clear

Facilities Manager

Nicanor grew up in Waterloo, Indiana, and attended LeTourneau University for Engineering before transferring to Grace College to study Christian Ministries. His work experience includes serving as a Preload Supervisor at UPS, working in construction for over five years, assisting with maintenance and housekeeping at his home church, and serving as Program Manager at Solid Rock Bible Camp. Nicanor enjoys reading fantasy novels, playing strategy board games, building campfires, savoring locally grown teas, camping, and tending to his chickens.

Heidi Hand

Housekeeping Manager

Heidi is originally from Alaska and moved to Marcellus, Michigan at 14 years old. She graduated from Howardsville Christian School and worked as a teacher’s aide there. Heidi also served as a part-time housekeeper at Bair Lake Bible Camp and later as an Apprentice before joining the full-time team in 2024. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and singing.

Arn Stiles

Assistant Food Service Manager

Arn spent most of his childhood growing up at Bair Lake Bible Camp. He also lived in the Marquette area of the Upper Peninsula, but BLBC and Jones, MI are where he considers home. Arn graduated in 2023 and later served as a kitchen apprentice at BLBC before joining our full-time team in 2024. He enjoys writing poetry, short stories, and novels, and loves spending time outdoors, whether hiking, walking, or biking.

Bookkeeper

Dwight hails from South Bend, IN where he lives with his wife Julie. He recently retired from teaching high school mathematics and was searching for an accounting position when he landed at BLBC. Dwight and Julie have 3 children, 2 who live nearby and 1 who is home in heaven. Dwight enjoys following Chicago sports teams, biking, and serving as an elder at his church.
