BLBC Media - FaceBook Photo Contest Winner
Winner for May: Sharon Keegan

"My first hobo breakfast was at age 8, my first year in Juniors. Someone thought it would be a good idea to have all the campers dress up in hobo outfits from the old costume shop. Unfortunately, that particular morning was very hot and sunny, and they had us cooking way back in the brush pile, so we had to walk in these hot outfits halfway across camp and then sit and roast while we attempted to cook bacon on a tin can.
Over the years, I got pretty good at it, thank you very much. Especially the year I Senior-staffed (2000), since I got practice almost every week. That summer I witnessed a Hobo Breakfast cheater... Joe Watkins cooked his breakfast on a mini camping grill; I have the photo to prove it!
Growing up, camp was always the highlight of my year, and I loved to tell stories to my friends back home about my experiences at Bair Lake and the Hobo breakfast fascinated everyone.
I proudly wear my BLBC traditions Hobo Breakfast shirt and get numerous inquiries every time, so I get to explain the concept and brag about one of my favorite places in the world!
I didn't make it to camp between 2000 and 2007, so for those 7 years I had somewhat glorified the experience in my mind. Last summer I attempted Hobo Breakfast, but to my dismay, it was a disaster. The egg slid off the can and there was dirt on my toast. Even with the Hobo Disaster of 2007, the experience is a fond one for me; it would not be BLBC without it!"
